Ice Caves

It actually got kinda warm here in Seattle – surprisingly enough – I felt like a traitor when I wished for central air in 85 degree sunshine.  It was strange.  Like I didn’t even know myself anymore.

Andrew’s parents were in town and he really wanted to get them into the mountains for a short hike.  He settled on the Big Four Ice Caves, which we sold to Evelyn with the big shot announcer voice, “Available for a Limited Time Only.”  The ice caves are formed when sheets of snow slide down the Big Four mountain, cracking in some places, but maintaining a cave-like atmosphere in others.  We passed a ranger who warned us that the caves were already pretty unstable due to melt, but they were pretty fun to look at.  The natural air conditioning was pretty welcome, too!

Having come off three pretty insane weeks, Evelyn was a bit of a bear on this hike.  When she finally got there, though, she didn’t want to leave.
