Team Oberdeck

The Arboretum

We had such lovely weather recently – it’s just about impossible for me to keep track of the time when the days get so long.  Getting the children to bed “on time” is SO hard.  The other day we had a chance to get out for some more Urban Hiking at a secondary branch of the Arboretum.  Turns out they’ve got a Center for Urban Horticulture that’s bike able from my house!  Not that I biked it.  Oh no.  In fact, we had McFlurries on the way.  Because I am an awesome Mom.  There’s a little trail there – less than 2mi – that winds between Lake Washington and the University district.  It’s astonishing how the urban world falls away in the middle of the prairie.  You can still hear it a bit, of course, but you also find birds and flowers and turtles.  My girls were enthralled with the turtles.  That…..and the stone fountain out front…..which we managed to keep Claire OUT of……despite her valiant efforts.  🙂
