A Day Off

My big girl is in school full days, 5 days a week.  It’s been quite the adjustment for us all.  Don’t get me wrong – it’s going well – but we’re a household that likes to Sleep In, kiddos included.  Neither tends to get up before 8am unless prodded, and Evelyn would go past 9 if you let her.

Days off school are treasures.  I love them.  I look forward to them for weeks ahead of time.  For some reason, most of our days off tend to be packed full of other random things, but we actually had a TRUE day off in January.  I let the girls pick whatever they wanted to do.

We wound up with some homemade fake-bake Chocolate Croissants, a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, a trip to the KiDiMu, and some running/climbing/rock throwing/shell collecting in Fey Bainbridge State Park.  It was a great day.  The girls were awesome, we took it easy and went at our own pace, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the KidiMu was nearly empty.  It was the right balance of inside kid-focused play and outdoor free time for us.  I’m really looking forward to some time with both my girls over spring break!
